Privacy Policy of TEKKON
WHOLE EARTH FOUNDATION LTD. (“WEF”) has established the following Privacy Policy (“this policy”) to ensure proper handling of personal information in accordance with laws pertaining to the protection of personal information and other laws, regulations and similar (“laws and regulations”). All directors, employees and other personnel shall comply with this policy and protect personal information to the best of their ability. In the event that a term used in this policy is also defined in a relevant law or regulation, the definition of that term in the law or regulation in question shall take precedence.
Article 1: Purposes of use
WEF shall use personal information provided by users for the following purposes.
- Provision, maintenance, protection and improvement of products and services
- Measurement of user traffic and behavior
- Distribution and display of advertisements and measurement of the effect of those advertisements
- Provision of information, handling of inquiries, etc. about products and services
- Handling of violations of WEF’s terms, policies, etc. (“terms, etc.”) in relation to products and services
- Notifying users of changes in terms, etc. for products and services
- Other measures necessary to ensure appropriate and smooth provision of services to users
Article 2: Appropriate acquisition of personal information
WEF shall acquire personal information only when necessary for operational purposes, and shall do so through legal and fair methods.
Article 3: Management of personal data
- WEF shall endeavor to ensure that the personal data it has acquired is accurate and up to date, and to erase personal data without delay in the event that it no longer needs to be used.
- To prevent leakage, loss or damage to personal data that has been acquired, WEF shall establish internal regulations on the protection of personal information and review and amend these when necessary to establish suitable frameworks and carry out stringent security measures, including supervision of contractors.
Article 4: Provision of personal data to third parties
WEF shall not provide personal data to a third party without the prior consent of the user or users in question except in exceptional cases stipulated by laws and regulations. In the event that WEF provides personal data to a third party outside Japan, WEF shall take all necessary measures, such as obtaining consent, that are stipulated in laws and regulations.
Article 5: Disclosure, amendment, etc.
- WEF accepts requests from users pertaining to personal data of theirs that is being retained by WEF, such as requests for disclosure, amendment, cessation of use or erasure of the data, in accordance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information. Users should note that in the event of a request for disclosure or similar, WEF may ask the user to present identification (driver’s license, passport, etc.) to verify the user’s identity. WEF may decline a request if the request does not meet the requirements stipulated in the Act on the Protection of Personal Information or if a reason to decline a request for disclosure or similar is recognized in the Act on the Protection of Personal Information or other laws and regulations.
- Users should note that WEF may request a handling fee when disclosing the personal information that WEF is retaining or when notifying the user of the purpose for which the personal information is used.
Article 6: Point of contact for inquiries
Users can use the inquiry form on WEF’s website (https://ja.wholeearthfoundation.org/) to submit feedback, questions, complaints, the requests pertaining to personal information that are described in the previous article (disclosure, amendment, etc.) and other inquiries pertaining to personal information.
Article 7: Procedure for changes to this policy
WEF shall review and amend this policy where necessary to ensure proper handling of personal information. In the event that this policy is changed, the new version shall be displayed on WEF’s website, and other necessary measures shall be taken to notify users.
Article 8: Cookie policy
WEF’s website uses cookies. Cookies are small text files containing arbitrary text in place of personal information. When a user browses WEF’s website, these files are saved in the user’s device as a result of communication between the web server of WEF’s website and the user’s Internet browsing software (browser). Using cookies makes it possible to provide users with more tailored services. Users can configure their browser settings to receive an advance notification when a website uses cookies and block cookies from their device. Users should note that if they configure settings so that cookies are not used, this may restrict the functions that are available to them when browsing the WEF website.
